Both the Prologue and the Solterra have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The Honda Prologue weighs 446 to 919 pounds more than the Subaru Solterra. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

Honda pays for scheduled maintenance on the Prologue for 1 year or 12,000 miles. Honda will pay for tire rotations, cabin filter replacement, brake fluid replacement, inspections, and any other required maintenance. Subaru doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the Solterra.

There are over 67 percent more Honda dealers than there are Subaru dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Prologue’s warranty.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2024 Auto Issue reports that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Subaru vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Honda 1 place higher in reliability than Subaru.

The Prologue’s optional electric motors produces 73 more horsepower (288 vs. 215) and 84 lbs.-ft. more torque (333 vs. 249) than the Solterra’s electric motors.

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the Solterra (255/60R19 vs. 235/60R18). The Prologue Elite’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Solterra (275/45R21 vs. 235/60R18).

The Prologue Elite’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Solterra Limited/Touring’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Prologue has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Solterra Premium. The Prologue Elite’s 21-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the Solterra Limited/Touring.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Solterra doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 9.6 inches longer than on the Solterra (121.8 inches vs. 112.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 2.9 inches wider in the rear than on the Solterra.

The Prologue has 16 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Solterra (111.7 vs. 95.7).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Prologue’s liftgate can be opened just by a gesture, leaving your hands completely free. The Solterra doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Prologue has a 1500 lbs. towing capacity. The Solterra has no towing capacity.

The Prologue Elite has a standard heads-up display that projects speed in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Solterra doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Prologue’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The Solterra’s power window (except driver window) and power lock switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Prologue has a standard rear wiper. The Solterra doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Honda Prologue has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) for the front seat. Wireless charging costs extra on the Solterra.

The Prologue Elite has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Solterra doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Prologue is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Solterra doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
