For enhanced safety, the front and rear seat shoulder belts of the Honda Prologue have pretensioners to tighten the seatbelts and eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers. The Kia EV6 doesn’t offer pretensioners for its rear seat belts.

The Honda Prologue has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The EV6 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Honda Prologue achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Kia EV6 has not been tested.

The Honda Prologue comes with a standard Surround Vision System with a rear camera washer to provide all-weather visibility, regardless of road dirt or grime, while the Kia EV6 doesn’t offer a camera washer, requiring manual cleaning.

Both the Prologue and the EV6 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Honda Prologue is safer than the Kia EV6:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Honda Prologue is safer than the Kia EV6:

Warranty

The Prologue’s 5 year corrosion warranty has no mileage limitations, but the corrosion warranty on the EV6 runs out after 100,000 miles.

There are over 34 percent more Honda dealers than there are Kia dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the Prologue’s warranty.

Reliability

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Kia vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Honda fourth in overall reliability. Kia is ranked 9th.

The Prologue can travel longer on a full charge than the EV6 on a full charge:

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Prologue has larger standard tires than the EV6 (255/60R19 vs. 235/55R19). The Prologue Elite’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the EV6 (275/45R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The Honda Prologue’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Kia EV6 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Prologue has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The EV6 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Prologue can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The EV6 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Prologue’s wheelbase is 7.6 inches longer than on the EV6 (121.8 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Prologue is 2 inches wider in the front and 1.8 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the EV6.

For greater off-road capability the Prologue has a 2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the EV6 (8.1 vs. 6.1 inches), allowing the Prologue to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Passenger Space

The Prologue has 8.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the EV6 (111.7 vs. 103).

The Prologue has .6 inches more front headroom, 2.7 inches more front hip room, 1.6 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom, .4 inches more rear legroom, 1.2 inches more rear hip room and 2 inches more rear shoulder room than the EV6.

Cargo Capacity

The Prologue has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the EV6 with its rear seat up (25.2 vs. 24.4 cubic feet). The Prologue has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the EV6 with its rear seat folded (57.7 vs. 46.7 cubic feet).

A standard locking glovebox keeps your small valuables safer in the Prologue. The EV6 doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

Towing

The Prologue’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the EV6’s (1500 vs. 0 pounds).

Servicing Ease

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Honda service is better than Kia. J.D. Power ranks Honda 7th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 41% lower rating, Kia is ranked 27th.

Ergonomics

The Prologue’s front and rear power windows all open fully with one touch of the switches and its front windows also automatically close, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The EV6’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically. The EV6 GT-Line/GT’s rear windows don’t open automatically.

If the windows are left open on the Prologue the driver can close them all from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can also lower the windows the same way. The driver of the EV6 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Prologue’s standard Push Button Start and Smart Entry allow you to unlock the doors from any outside door handle, open the cargo door, and start the vehicle, all without removing the key from the pocket or purse. Smart Key standard on the EV6 doesn’t offer a sensor on the rear doors, so you’ll have to reach a front handle to unlock the rear door.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Prologue has a standard rear wiper. The EV6 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Prologue Touring/Elite’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The EV6 has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The Honda Prologue has a standard Homelink wireless remote control system for garage door operation and device management, conveniently located on the infotainment. Homelink® eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries. Kia charges extra for Homelink® on the EV6.

Recommendations

The Honda Prologue outsold the Kia EV6 by 32% during 2024.
